Several months ago I uploaded a video about a Bronze Age through Saxon era hillfort called “Highdown Hill”. It’s a chalk hill located within the South Downs National Park, not far from the town of Worthing. Its human heritage stretches back into antiquity, and was first used as an enclosure by the Bronze Age people who lived in the area around 1000 BC. Later the enclosure was built out as a hill fort around 800 BC during the Iron Age. Later came the Romans, and then the Saxons.
It’s easy to get to from Worthing, and sits above the village of Ferring.
